HBO’s new Vogue documentary “In Vogue: The Editor’s Eye,” picked the right people — from Grace Coddington to the now-100-year-old Babs Simpson — to recount the most influential moments in the glossy bible’s 120-year history. Given the personnel, it’s a pity they couldn’t spin a more engaging yarn. Emma Barker writes:

While we get a view of what they have done in the past (covered wars, influenced feminist movements, challenged trends), we never really see how they did it, and the question lingers.

To be fair, cramming 120 years of societal clout into 60 minutes can’t be easy. And what is undeniably fascinating is watching these famous image-crafters define each others’ style. Talking about Camilla Nickerson’s surveillance photo shoot with Kate Moss, Hamish Bowles said, “There’s this anti-perfection … which was counter to a lot of what Vogue represented.”

Meet Jany Temime, the costume designer responsible for James Bond’s unbelievably suave suits.

When she wasn’t gushing about star Daniel Craig’s stellar bod (no arguments here), Temime told The Daily about split trousers, bloodied suits and sewing Bond girl Bérénice Marlohe into her dress.

How many repairs did you do during shooting?
We had 30 for Daniel and 30 for the stunt man. For every scene we have one that’s clean, one that’s dirty, one that’s dirty with blood, all the different stages. For the motorcycle scenes, the sleeves and trousers are longer and we’d reinforce the seat and the back. But the suits were so amazingly made that they hardly ever damaged. He was rolling in the dirt and they were still perfect, street-ready. The one scene where we had a lot of repairs was the scene where he jumps onto the lift. We had to repair the trousers a lot [laughs].

Desperate to find the perfect-fitting pair of jeans? Acustom Apparel uses high-tech 3D scanners to make a pair specifically tailored to your body. We sent our own Ramona Emerson to try it out:

The custom clothing company makes made-to-order suits using a $10,000 body scanner, which creates a 3D model of your body, accurate to one-eighth of an inch. Their jeans line is still in beta-testing, but they invited me to “design” a pair.

At first glance the scanner looked like an airport security X-ray — after all the TSA horror stories in the news, I was a bit hesitant to get inside in only underwear. But co-founder Jamal Motlagh was quick to point out that the machine is not an X-ray: it uses 23 cameras and plain white light to determine the shape of the body inside the box. The digital model it creates is not a photographic representation, but a scattergram of pixels, showing shape, not cellulite.

The process was quick, private and painless. You simply stand in the box while lights go on and off and Mozart’s “Symphony in G Minor” plays. In less than 30 seconds, the scanner recorded 200,000 data points from the top of my head to the tip of my toes. Having data on the whole body, as opposed to a traditional tailor’s eight hip and leg measurements, allows Acustom to reposition back pockets and make the most of each person’s uniquely challenging backside, among other finer tunings.

Musician and mother Ellie Stager never expected to be an entrepreneur. But after her husband, a pastor, asked her to make him a bow tie, she took out the sewing machine and got to work. Now just three years later, Stager runs a five-person bow tie company called The Cordial Churchman from a former county courthouse in Rock Hill, S.C.

Grab a classy headband. “Gossip Girl” costume designer Eric Daman dished to Michelle Ruiz on Blake Lively, the sixth and final season of the series, and his upcoming “Sex and the City” prequel.

“We’re bringing back the headbands,” costume designer Eric Daman told The Daily. “It’s almost as if they have some sort of supernatural power.”

The show’s fashion godfather, an alum of  “Sex and the City,” said the last season, which premieres Monday, will be like “Gossip Girl 2.0.”
