The diver swimming unprotected around this huge great white shark is named Daniel. His doubters call him “lunch.”

Daniel Botelho, a 31-year-old Brazilian, took this series of photographs with an 18-foot-long female shark off the coast of Mexico to show that sharks see humans as friends, not food. Botelho has logged 24 hours of cage-free dive time with the toothy beasts. He claims that the key to sharing the water with sharks is to remain relaxed and maintain eye contact with the shark.
