The U.S. may become the world’s top oil producer next year, thanks to fracking. Domestic producers will drill up almost 11 million barrels of oil and biofuels every day next year, which would be a 7.5 percent increase over current levels, according to new estimates by the federal Energy Information Administration. Here’s another way to look at it: The oil produced by the U.S. next year would keep Niagara Falls flowing for almost 13 days, if Great Lakes water were somehow replaced with crude.
