Sniffing fellow revelers and peeing on the floor is a surefire way to get kicked out of most nightclubs, but at New York City’s Fetch Club, it’s all part of the four-legged fun.
This doggie disco in Manhattan is the first of its kind — a late-night haven for hard-partying pooches and their owners.
“A lot of nights I just end up staying home and drinking wine because I don’t want to leave my Maltese alone,” said Nina Todorovska, 23. “Now we can come here and be social.”
Instead of bottle service, Fetch serves its canine clientele “bowl service” of beef-flavored Happy Tale Ale, and bottles of “Sauvignon Bark” made of chicken broth and potatoes.
At last week’s grand opening, house music throbbed as overstimulated dogs romped under pulsing disco lights. The dance floor is sprinkled with sand to make it less slippery, and wet/dry vacs are poised to make “accidents” disappear.
“Some dogs just don’t want to go to sleep early,” said Fetch creative director Ami Goodheart, who designed the golden bone decor and black light wall etchings. “This is a club that caters to the urban canine lifestyle.”
But that lifestyle doesn’t come cheap: In addition to a $300 annual membership fee, each dog is charged a $25 cover at the door. Now that’s ruff!
