David Lee Gavitt, a man wrongly convicted of murdering his family in a house fire, has finally been set free after 26 years in prison.  Gavitt walked out of prison last month, exonerated by new fire science that could overturn hundreds of arson convictions from the past four decades… In his first interview since he was freed, the 54-year-old Gavitt told The Daily that being accused of taking the lives of his girls hurt him more than being locked away. “This was a crime I did not commit. And to be accused of something like this is — there were times where I’d want to curl up in a ball and just dig a hole and bury myself because I didn’t want to survive anymore,” he said.
