Yee haw! Texas may soon get the fastest speed limit in the nation — 85 mph! — to help alleviate congested roadways between San Antonio and Austin, and increase the toll road’s appeal to travelers. Transportation officials will begin testing the safety of an 85 mph speed limit on a 41-mile stretch of state Highway 130 that runs north-south between Austin and Seguin, a town east of San Antonio. The speed limit there is already 80 mph… Darren McDaniel, the state Department of Transportation’s speed management director, said most motorists are already traveling about 85 mph on that stretch. “The more people we can get to travel a uniform speed, the safer are the conditions that will exist,” he said.
