Brace yourselves — the historic Supreme Court battle over President Obama’s health care overhaul begins tomorrow.

The case has ballooned to include 26 state attorneys general and become a once-in-a-generation high court challenge that could redefine the political landscape, much as Brown v. Board of Education or Roe v. Wade did in the struggles over civil rights and abortion.
If the justices vote to reject “Obamacare,” as it has been derisively tagged by opponents, it will be the first time the Supreme Court has declared a major federal law unconstitutional since it dismantled parts of Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal in 1936.
“What’s at stake here is nothing less than the scope of federal power,” said Ilya Shapiro, a lawyer and constitutional studies fellow at the libertarian Cato Institute. “This goes to the heart of our Constitution and, ultimately, the relationship between the government and the governed.”
