There are two Michael Ian Blacks. First, the perpetually smug jerk who tweets things like: “It took Whitney Houston dying for anybody to give a s*** about Kevin Costner again.” Then there’s the charming, insecure and self-deprecating Michael Ian Black whose childhood was a roller coaster: His sister had Down syndrome, his parents divorced when he was young, his mom became a lesbian, his dad died in a brutal assault when Black was 12. We met both of them for our interview.  “A lot of times, all you have to do is stand there and tell the truth, and people will find it funny,” Black recently told The Daily. “If you can just find your own truth and present it in an honest way, it will be entertaining to people, because the deeper you get inside yourself, the more universal those emotions and experiences are.” Photo by Bryan Bedder for The Daily
